Five-Year-Olds & Kindergarten
Keeping our class size small in our kindergarten/five's program allows for
a better opportunity for learning to take place. Our students display a growing interest
in the functional aspects of written language, such as recognizing meaningful words and
try to writing their own names. This program prepares our students for the Hillsborough
County Bench Mark Requirements testing.
Curriculum for the kindergarten/five's includes the Alpha Time Letter
People and can expand beyond the child's immediate experience of self, home and family to
include special events and trips.
This age group is beginning to make their own decisions and their learning
style has surfaced. We identify the learning styles and help the child experience success
in his academic achievements. Our teachers help to provide this learning in a loving, caring environment
that includes horses, computers and foreign language introduction.
Five-year-olds are developing interest in community and the world
outside their own. The class has adopted a nursing home and visits once a month with
singing, art work and plays. |
